Varsity Head Coach

Jim Gatewood
2008 marks the second year @ McKinney North for Coach Jim Gatewood. In his first
year as head coach, he led the Bulldogs to their fourth consecutive district championship
and a trip to the Area round of the state playoffs. With a combined record of 45-21-2
for the entire North baseball program, Coach Gatewood had a very successful start to his
North coaching career in 2007.
Coach Gatewood is in his twenty first year of coaching baseball. For eight of those years,
he coached at the University of Alabama. Below are some stats from his career there:
Four-40+ win seasons
Five NCAA Regional Appearances
Two NCAA Regional Championships (1999 & 2006)
Three SEC Tournament Championships
One SEC Regular Season Championship (2006)
1999 College World Series (team took third place)
In Alabama Coach Gatewood was the third base coach, but also coached the catchers
and infielders. He coached the 2002 Johnny Bench Award Winner, Jeremy Brown.
In 2004, his infield finished third in school history with a .969 fielding percentage.
Before his success in Alabama, Coach Gatewood was the Assistant Coach @ Malvern
High in Arkansas in 1988. He then became the Assistant Coach @ Northwestern State University in Louisiana from 1988 to 1990. His infield lead the country in defense in
1990 with a .980 fielding percentage. He left NSU to become the Head Coach
@ Richardson High School from 1990 to 1998.
Coach Gatewood was the catcher @ Henderson State University in Arkansas from
1983-1987 where he was named to the NAIA All District 17 Team in 1986.

Coach Gatewood is most proud of his wife of eighteen years, Lee Gatewood, and his
two beautiful girls-Rachel age twelve and Grace age eight. They live in McKinney and
attend the Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco.

Brooke Court
Coach Court is originally from Oklahoma City, where he played 4 years of high school baseball. He was named to the "First Team All-Big City" and "Honorable Mention All-State" his senior year. He started his college career at Hutchison Jr. College in Kansas. After junior college, he played 2 more years at Kansas State University. He then went to Oklahoma State University where he obtained degrees in History and Education. Coach Court joined the Bulldog coaching staff in 2005. He was part of the 2006 Regional Championship team and the State Semi-Finalist team. This year will be his eighth year coaching. Before becoming a Bulldog, he spent 1 year at Anna HS as the Assistant Baseball Coach, and 4 years as the Head Coach at Bishop Dunne HS. Coach Court turned a non-existent program at Bishop Dunne around into a playoff program within his 4 years. He has been married to his lovely wife Wendy for 5 years. They have a beautiful 20-month old daughter named Addison. His fondest memory from his playing days was getting the game-winning hit against Iowa State in a Big XII Conference game, and the friendships he created throughout his career. His fondest coaching memory was going to the State Tournament in baseball with MNHS during the 2006 season. In his spare time, he likes to spend time with his family and friends, playing golf and watching movies.

Sean McCorry
Coach McCorry joined the Bulldogs in 2007. He graduated from the University of Luverne with both a BS and Masters in Education, playing 4 years of college baseball while he was there. He began his coaching career at Pomona Pitzer College in California, where he was the pitching coach for 1 year and then went to Northview HS for 2 years as a pitching coach. From there, he went back to Pamona Pitzer for 2 years and then to Azusa Pacific College where he spent 1 year as the pitching coach. Coach McCorry was the Head Coach at Arcadia HS for 3 years before becoming the Varsity Pitching Coach at MNHS. During his time, he was also involved with the Seattle Mariner's scout team. His fondest memory from his coaching days is watching the players develop into hard working baseball players and seeing them advance at the next level or simply go on to become men of great character. Coach McCorry enjoys spending time with his wife Laura and their 2 children, son Nolan and daughter Casey. For Coach McCorry, the most important part of coaching is working to develop the player into the best they can be and along the way teaching them to become tough-minded young men that will be successful when they leave the Bulldog program.
